There aren’t many things that give me that kind of thrill and curiosity as a Phoebe Philo newsletter announcing a new collection. It’s how I felt clicking through Céline runway slides on Vogue.com back in the day - next, next, next - mesmerized, because nothing else looked quite like that.
It’s the feeling of walking into an exhibition by an artist you love and gasping - like I did at Miriam Cahn’s “What Looks at Us” at Lisbon’s MAAT, right after listening to her speak about her work.
It’s the feeling of reading the first pages of a book and knowing it will stay with you. Did you see “A Little Life” is being released in a new anniversary edition? Eight artists were asked to imagine scenes from the novel and create illustrations. I need that in my collection, and maybe it’s time to reread it.
Anyway. Receiving a PP newsletter still gives me that same electricity. And now - it’s finally Collection C.
But this time, I’m not going to the online store. I’m going somewhere physical: Lisbon’s own SHEET-1, a destination for contemporary fashion that just added PP to its lineup. The space used to be an art gallery, which feels right - for The Row, Maison Margiela, Jil Sander, and other pieces that carry the stillness of sculpture, not the urgency of trend.

I love looking at the editorials - but it’s when I try the clothes on that I really want to buy them. Phoebe Philo launched online-only, but I’ve always needed the offline experience: to touch, to feel, to see things move. So having the pieces in-store matters. Especially when the store is so close to home. (Literally, a 20-minute walk.)
I started with the shirts - my ultimate uniform piece, and it felt good to be reminded why. Phoebe’s shirts are just perfect. I recently bought the navy Tie Neck from the last collection, but if I could only have one, I’d pick one of these two.

The standout of this first delivery? A sculptural skirt that echoes the dresses from Céline SS18. You know how much I love spotting these references. I’m wearing a FR38 here, but you could size up for a softer, more fluid fit.

Outerwear has always been one of Phoebe’s signatures - and this coat is just perfection.

The cotton yellow top with dropped shoulders and long sleeves may seem basic at first, but there’s something about the fit and fabric that makes you never want to take it off. And these jeans… another Phoebe signature in the making. The new style - with its twisted seam and raw-edge hem - sits sooo well!
I wasn’t sold on the Gig bags at first, but trying them on (and seeing a Pouch on my friend Bea) completely changed my mind.

And of course, I couldn’t skip the already-iconic Medium Kit Cabas.

Excited to see what’s next from Collection C!
Kisses from Lisbon,
Veronika
