My Old Céline Sunglasses

This week I want to talk about my sunglasses collection. And the reason for that was actually seeing how many Phoebe Philo sunglasses were bought intentionally to be resold. Sunglasses usually are the most affordable category from the designer brands and also the easiest way to elevate the outfit with, so obviously it’s a good item to invest in.

For the very same reasons sunglasses were among the first Céline things I’ve ever bought more than 10 years ago now. Who remembers Audrey sunglasses!? I had two pairs - black big ones and pink smaller ones. After buying and selling a few more, I have nine pairs now plus one pair for reading. I also bought a few cases separately to have each for every pair as not always I got sunglasses with a case or I got an old suede case which I liked less.

So here’s my collection! Writing down all of the serial numbers for the reference, starting from the top - CL40023I, CL40032U, CL40057I, CL40058I, CL41468/S GEGKU, CL 41468/S 807IR, CL40019I, CL41449/S.

The first pair on the top I probably wear the most and am always asked about - the shape is so good and they’re very light and comfy; the yellow ones I bought on Vinted after seeing Sidsel Alling wearing them so much and so cool; the red ones I tried at the Céline store and fell in love and then spent a year trying to find them and finally bought on Ebay; the brown ones were a spontaneous purchase but I loved the shape so much; blue Edge ones are from my wonderful friend Noa and the black ones I bought a few years ago for a very good price; the cat eye sunglasses I bought just for the collection but they turned out to be the most worn ones (still thinking about the white pair); and last but not least, once very popular model Kate, which I wanted for a long time and found on Vinted in February.

By the logo and the arms’ shape you can tell that most of them are from the later Céline collections starting in 2017, and three pairs are from 2014-2016.

I spent quite some time thinking if I need Phoebe Philo Peak sunglasses in tortoiseshell as I still want to have something from PP and I don’t want to spend that much money on clothes or shoes (for now) but also I have two pairs of the Céline Edge which are almost identical so once again I decided not to buy and focus on my existing collection instead. I still have a few pairs I want to find so that’s an ongoing project and I will share as soon as I find them!

Kobi and his sunglasses of choice

I realised I forgot to include the last pair in the group photo, so asked Kobi to model it for you. I first bought this pair in Rome eight years ago (still have the photo from that day!), then gave it to my friend and bought again last year in a slightly different colorway.
